How does charging work?

Generally, when traveling, you will likely take advantage of Tesla's vast Supercharger network. When using the car's built-in GPS navigation, the routing will includes stops at Superchargers as needed. To use a Supercharger, you just drive up and plug the car in. Tesla will charge my credit card automatically, and I will request reimbursement after your trip has completed.

Some locations may offer free public charging. A J1772 adapter is provided for use in non-Tesla locations.

We can also include a mobile charger by request. This mobile charger can be used with standard 40 amp or 12 amp outlets. While this option is slower than a Supercharger, it is a good alternative for overnight charging.

In general, we ask that you set the charge limit to 80%. Charging all the way to 100% is generally not necessary unless you are embarking on a trip that will require frequent stops at a Supercharger. Even then, the guidance system will suggest the minimum charge level that is needed to reach the next charging stop.

Charging to 100% in excess can harm the high voltage battery over time.
